What is Dailies?

Dailies can refer to a number of things, Orchard Dailies handles the processing, preparing, and archiving of the daily footage in a Dailies Lab.

Dailies can also refer to:

  • Dailies Crew Member - someone working on-set for a select number of days

Dailies Lab

Orchard Dailies provides Labs for HETV & Film productions, shooting both digitally and with film negatives. Dailies is a vital pivoting point between on-set and post-production, making sure that the picture, sound, and metadata are archived and delivered to the Editorial department as seen on-set.

Each night a Dailies Operator will:

  • Copy picture and sound files to Production hard drives
  • Enter metadata, such as slating, colour, and framing information
  • Apply CDLs & LUTs from the DIT on-set*
  • Sync the picture and sound files together
  • Create and upload viewing dailies
  • Create and upload Editorial proxies
  • Create Avid bins
  • Archive picture and sound to LTOs

*Colour and lighting adjustments.

When doing a full Dailies lab with Orchard Dailies we will look after your workflow from the initial workflow call right through to liaising with your Post House. We ensure that vetting packages, metadata workflows, and colour pipelines are all prepared and maintained throughout your production.
