Jo Barker Colourist
Jo brings to her work as a colourist more than ten years’ experience in post-production, having collaborated closely with many acclaimed filmmakers to help deliver their creative vision. Most recently she has worked on Meg 2: The Trench, Bridgerton, Suspicion, Belfast and A Discovery of Witches in onset dailies colour.
Jo studied cinematography at Prague’s prestigious Film & TV School of Performing Arts (FAMU) and spent her early career in post-production, working on both film & digital projects. Here she gained a deep understanding of post-production workflows and time spent on archival scanning projects helped Jo to develop her efficient, calm and detail orientated working style. Exposure to high-profile grading projects from top Colourists led to her to begin grading herself.
A desire to apply her wealth of post experience to an on-set environment was realised through her previous role as a DIT with Digital Orchard. Here she was able to combine her lab, colour and camera knowledge to great effect, supporting DOPs from pre-production through to post. As a Dailies Colourist on many large-scale productions, Jo has excelled in creating a space & workflow for DOPs to quickly achieve the early visual look of their projects. Jo combines a passion for cinematography, extensive technical experience and a deep understanding of the impact that colour grading has in achieving an immersive & compelling experience for audiences.
